There are a few reasons for that -my brother's wedding interstate being one of them, but the main reason is that I've moved blog-house! You can now find me <a href="http://www.stampwithwendy.com.au">here</a>. Lots of exciting things in store for you all in the coming weeks! Be sure to subscribe to the new blog!Wendyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02552477136076768074noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8022381297709741517.post-46466577681134446852007-11-11T15:40:00.000+11:002007-11-11T21:00:49.891+11:00Tutorial: Creating a Scallop EdgeI hadn't forgotten that I promised a tutorial, and here it is. It's worth the wait! The fabulous corner rounder punch by Stampin' Up! can be used to create the most beautiful scalloped edge for your cards and scrapbook pages. Just $13.50, this is one great corner rounder! If you'd like to order one, or book yourself a workshop and receive one for free, just send me an email at <a href="mailto:stampin_wendy@yahoo.com.au">stampin_wendy@yahoo.com.au</a>
And here's how you create the scalloped edge:
<strong>STEP ONE:</strong>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8MJs6J8QaII8D3srrb-Lirdap03o8dIpL0hhaTO2OLp1glBOrJoUVy9sz_rdbfuVGVRmOwktcjnYAO_8n8gvKhX6zA8-KT54f7dB5jukF8JM1rp7eJE8CPH9ou6RxRE6KC3gouE7mD-w/s1600-h/Step+One.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8MJs6J8QaII8D3srrb-Lirdap03o8dIpL0hhaTO2OLp1glBOrJoUVy9sz_rdbfuVGVRmOwktcjnYAO_8n8gvKhX6zA8-KT54f7dB5jukF8JM1rp7eJE8CPH9ou6RxRE6KC3gouE7mD-w/s320/Step+One.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5131513829587580818" /></a>
Remove the guard from your corner rounder punch. To do this, pull apart the two edges of the guard that are at the end of the punch where you insert the paper. They should come away from the punch fairly easily and it will slip off completely. Set the guard aside -you won't need it to create the scallop edge.
<strong>STEP TWO:</strong>
Insert the edge of your cardstock into the punch, resting the edge along the top of the "V" you see in the window of the punch. I always start at one end of the cardstock, with the side edge just showing in the top right corner of the slit in the punch window, as you can see in this picture;
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgK6TieFd73OOzJ88CcCIHLIN_3jwnzObj6nJDZs7nVL69jvAihJ9J9LSd5sYPTJp6LcAUnQ73jj-R_RhD0988WYxw1jx4B4Wozth4eBf2LoyxE71_EHax6lqw6sIgIs6tvc_0EBxSujSk/s1600-h/Step+Two.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgK6TieFd73OOzJ88CcCIHLIN_3jwnzObj6nJDZs7nVL69jvAihJ9J9LSd5sYPTJp6LcAUnQ73jj-R_RhD0988WYxw1jx4B4Wozth4eBf2LoyxE71_EHax6lqw6sIgIs6tvc_0EBxSujSk/s320/Step+Two.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5131513838177515426" /></a>
Punch your first slit here.
<strong>STEP THREE:</strong>
Slide the punch along, so that the very tip of the last slit you punched is just barely showing in the top right corner of the slit in the punch window, as shown in this picture;
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-WgvXZoVLfUqlbBfx4jvqgH6jHvTOTj76os0M1YnF_7Fw0aQxd2qtREdX4jNA_O8uuAKCsbFL1myhWLTHPBa5yBTgi1oid-LBUgOz4K1wQ_mmNDuh_vDdg5GVEfpNi8TmZ1lleX7s16A/s1600-h/Step+Three.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-WgvXZoVLfUqlbBfx4jvqgH6jHvTOTj76os0M1YnF_7Fw0aQxd2qtREdX4jNA_O8uuAKCsbFL1myhWLTHPBa5yBTgi1oid-LBUgOz4K1wQ_mmNDuh_vDdg5GVEfpNi8TmZ1lleX7s16A/s320/Step+Three.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5131513838177515442" /></a>
Continue to punch and slide, right along the edge of your cardstock.
<strong>STEP FOUR:</strong>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwhhAWtf8kc5VcHW8iHCCj7cJcaPtsaABEdNF_cqx0PH062U6SP4p2Pu_di0vhuOjGzHi7O8WinRfuU7dPlNnWlOvnESgKnKkydKO3MvEhpUnOgHrpbwAKri5a1PSzpy60aRBJbcHEsLw/s1600-h/Step+Four.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwhhAWtf8kc5VcHW8iHCCj7cJcaPtsaABEdNF_cqx0PH062U6SP4p2Pu_di0vhuOjGzHi7O8WinRfuU7dPlNnWlOvnESgKnKkydKO3MvEhpUnOgHrpbwAKri5a1PSzpy60aRBJbcHEsLw/s320/Step+Four.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5131513842472482754" /></a>

As many of you know, the Australian General Manager, Dave Abbott, recently passed away from a rare blood disease, at the age of 41, leaving behind his wife and 3 young children. Stampin' Up!, being the incredible company they are, have just released the stamp set called 'All In The Family' in Australia in order to raise money for Dave's family. 100% of the proceeds of the sale of this stamp set worldwide will be donated to Dave's young family - not just the profits, but 100% of the sale price worldwide. Now that's a company with heart!
I would like as many of you as possible to be able to buy this set, so I will be passing my Demonstrator discount on to you. I won't make any money from it, but hopefully I can help raise some money for Dave's family.
As you can see from the picture above, this is a really cute stamp set and so versatile! All the pieces come as separate stamps (head is one stamp, body is another, arm another, etc) -there is just so much you can do with this set. The photo on the scrapbook layout is of Dave and his beautiful family.
The All in the Family stamp set will appear in the Idea Book & Catalogue 2008-2009 (which will be released in April), but has been pre-released to raise money for the Abbott family. The set will not be available again after 30 November until 1 April.
This Promotion runs from today 1st November until the 30th November. I am offering it to you at 20% off! So, instead of $73.95, you'll pay only $59.15 (plus shipping and handling). For those who wish to participate, all of the orders for this stamp set will be collated to be placed all together on the 23rd of November and the hostess benefits raffled to those participating. Of course, if you don't want to wait and would like your set sooner, I will place your order separately.
Let me know if you'd like to buy a very versatile stamp set, and help out a family in need at the same time.
Another way to help is to contribute directly to the fund. You can make a deposit into the following bank account:

I'm slack and more than a little bit behind on my "one card per day" challenge, but it's been a crazy week for me. Anyway, I buckled down last night and today and did some serious CASEing to catch up, so I have my 4 cards for this week and a couple of scrapbook pages as a little bonus for my tardiness! Thanks, Ladies, for the inspiration and for sharing your stunning work with us. He loves a show called "Jack's big music show" -it was on Foxtel up until a few weeks ago. We had recorded some, but in a crazy moment of Mummy-brain, I deleted all but one of them, so now he watches that one over and over again. Anyway, this recording starts with a promo type thing with a song about what day of the week it is. I was singing this song to DH this morning before he went to work, and thus it's been in my head ever since. It's 8:30pm and it's still going. It's a great song, and I usually love it. Part of it goes, "If yesterday was Sunday and tomorrow will be Tuesday, that means today is.... Monday! Yes, it's Monday! All day today!" It's sung by this really cute little puppet. Sam loves it too and he sings and dances while it's on. So cute! But I have to say, it's losing some of it's appeal with me today. Repeating in my head about 3 times an hour is wearing a little thin! I so hope it's gone by tomorrow!
So, anyway, yes, it IS Monday all day today... lol... Here's today's card:

DH and I were sitting on the lounge, watching a movie and Sam was playing quietly on the floor in front of us. Next thing we know, Sam is walking, yes, WALKING, across the room, headed for his play area in our dining room! Needless to say, I was as good as crying, so proud of him, yet realising with none-too-little a jolt that my baby is definitely no longer a baby. I really don't think I'm ready for him to be so independent of me just yet! I know the clinginess and "mummy, hold me" pleas do get tiresome, but walking?!? I mean, come on, a mummy needs time to adjust to this!!!
Okay, before I start crying again, here's today's card! It's another CASE of Alisa Tilsner's gorgeous work (told you I'm a fan!).

I've been wanting to try the shadowing technique for a while, so today's card features this technique. It's quite simple -just stamp your image with the same colour ink as the cardstok you are stamping onto, then use the stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp in white craft ink, but move your image slightly to the left, so the shadow of the coloured ink shows through.

Every day, for the rest of October (at least!), I'm going to make and post a card EACH day! I'm hoping that the habit will form and I will continue to do it indefinitely, but baby steps... For now, I am committing to a card a day for the next 21 days. And this is in addition to the "for a purpose" cards I'll make, like birthday cards and thinkng of you cards and whatnot.
So, enough dribble, here's today's card!

And here it is confirmed! I got an A!!! My goodness, it's been like 10 years since I got an A! Argh! Am I THAT OLD??? Ten years since I finished school, already?!?!?! Alas, yes, it is true. My school are having their ten year reunion this month. So sad I can't make it, but that's what happens when you move interstate and have babies. Well, baby, singular, but you know what I mean.
Yeah, so, anyway, I found this cool blog thingy on <a href="http://www.paperpleasing.typepad.com">Paper Pleasing ideas</a>. I so love this blog. What a super talented lady!

I recently hosted a couple of swaps with some of the girls of the Elite Stampers. I got some really nice thank-you cards, which I will show you over the coming days. This first one is from <a href="http://www.madonnadunn.wordpress.com/">Madonna Dunn</a>. What a sweety. Such a cute card! I'll definitely be CASEing this one! Madonna has used the Polka Dots and Paisley set from the Spring Mini, and the Terrific Tags Level 1 Hostess Set. Colours are Tempting Turquoise (I think, sorry, haven't cross checked this to confirm -it may be Taken With Teal) and Whisper White, white grosgrain ribbon and a silver brad. Too cute, Mads!Wendyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02552477136076768074noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8022381297709741517.post-23404035362764391932007-10-03T23:17:00.000+10:002007-10-03T23:28:02.418+10:00Josh's Birthday CardMy nephew turned FOUR last week! I can't believe it. I vividly remember (like it was yesterday!) waiting at my other brother's place for the phone call to say he had arrived. We waited for ages the night we heard his mum had gone into labour, but the call didn't come until the following morning! It's funny how so many labour stories seem to fit with the personality of the baby when you look bacK. My own with Sam is one of them, too. But that's another story for another day (or NOT!). Anyway, so here is Joshy's card;

Stamp Sets used are Wild About You and um, will have to get back to you with the greeting one, I know I only inked up part of something!. Colours are Kraft CS, Not Quite Navy and Cranberry Crisp. I've also used the Cranberry Crisp stitched ribbon from the Spring Mini. I cut the scallop shape and matching circle with my Quickutz Silhouette.Wendyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02552477136076768074noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8022381297709741517.post-76145773762451998392007-10-02T20:34:00.000+10:002007-10-10T20:42:55.204+10:00Leonie's Birthday CardI sent this card to <a href="http://www.totallyaddinktive.com/">Leonie Schroder</a> for her birthday the other week. She's on our team at Elite Stampers. Lovely lady. I really enjoyed making this card, and it's another of my "branch out on my own" experiments that I have been increasingly trying since joining Stampin' Up!. I picked the stamp and the colour I wanted to use, then surfed the net for a while, looking at some ideas and inspiration, and this is what I came up with. I think it works. Was a lot of fun to make, too!

Colours used are Ballet Blue and Whisper White, with Garden Green, Bashful Blue and Elegant Eggplant in the watercolouring. Stamp sets are Summer By The Sea and Paisley Background. I've also used silver cord, which I adhered under another sheet of cardstock on the inside of the card.Wendyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02552477136076768074noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8022381297709741517.post-52839850024731764762007-10-01T19:30:00.000+10:002007-10-02T12:52:07.960+10:00Another tooth!So, we had Sam's birthday lunch today at my parents-in-law's house. My brother came with his Fiance and daughter. It was a really nice afternoon. The kids went for a swim (I could barely keep Sam out of the water! -I let him paddle his feet, as he didn't have his swimmers on) and we sat out in the patio sipping cold drinks. It truly felt like summer! VERY enjoyable.
Anyway, the big excitement of the day was my discovery that the little man has popped through another tooth! That's THREE teeth in barely a week! He's up to five now (popped through two teeth on Friday week ago). He now has four teeth along the bottom and one up top, all at the front. What a way to let a mummy now you're growing up fast!!!
He's been walking around EVERYwhere for the past few days. Still insists on holding either our hand, pants leg or the furniture, but he is very definite that he wants to walk, rather than be carried or crawl. Anyday now, he'll be running off on me and I'll be struggling to catch him!
Hope you're all having a fantastic week, I should have some new designs up for you sometime today!

She has some super cute cards over there! Do yourself a favour and jump over for a peak! You can find her blog <a href="http://www.alanagalagher.blogspot.com/">here</a>. Welcome to the team, Alana! I'm looking forward to getting to know you!Wendyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02552477136076768074noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8022381297709741517.post-20482720786481785262007-09-24T23:12:00.000+10:002007-10-10T20:50:34.523+10:00Cute Cute Cute Tote Bag GSDI created this file tonight to save myself having to cut and score totes with my trimmer. I love them and plan to make them all the time, so using my Quickutz Silhouette will save me literally hours! This file will work with any cutter that works on GSD files (Craft Robo and Silhouette both do).
I hope this helps others! I've test cut it and it's perfect. Fits the standard A6 cards like a glove!
This is my first GSD file creation, so I would really appreciate your feedback. If anyone has trouble with the file, please feel free to <a href="http://stampin-wendy.blogspot.com/search/label/Contact%20Me">contact me</a> and I will endeavour to help you.
You can download the file <a href="http://www.4shared.com/dir/3977563/ec95b1a8/sharing.html">here</a>. The password is "cardlover".
In sharing this file for free, I ask that you please DO NOT share it with others. Please direct them here to my blog where they can download it themselves. Whilst I did not come up with the idea to make card totes myself, I did spend hours creating this file. If you do download, please post a comment and let me know what you think of it!
Edited To Add: Here's a pic of a tote I made this morning. So happy with how it turned out!

I had so much fun making this card for my husband. I used SU!'s fabulously gorgeous watercolour paper, and OMGoodness!!! I'm never going to watercolour on Whisper White again! The WC paper gives SUCH a beautiful finish. I am very much in love with it! I've always been apprehensive about watercolouring, being so NOT an artist myself, but with the WC paper, it just <em>worked</em>. Do yourself a favour and try it! I promise, you will not be disappointed! Stamp sets used were Summer By The Sea and Warm Words. The card is a CASE from the IB&C, page 130.Wendyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02552477136076768074noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8022381297709741517.post-16552222603557799322007-09-21T06:36:00.000+10:002007-09-21T06:48:09.392+10:00Cards for Victoria... Victoria has cancer. Her teacher is trying to get cards sent to her from everywhere around the world. I heard about this from a blog by a US SU! demonstrator. Here is a copy of the email from Victoria's teacher:
1. I want Victoria to receive cards and letters from EVERY STATE in the USA. This means WE - me and you, have to send out these emails to all our friends and relatives all over the country and get them on board with us.
2. I'm going to get a map for Victoria so she can map every piece of mail she gets. I think it would be so neat to see how far her name can travel.
3. We have to enlist everyone we know to send her a card. Suggestions I thought about: Sunday School classes, classrooms at school, organizations and groups you are a member of, clubs, workplaces, dr. offices, neighborhoods and the list can go on and on - USE YOUR IMAGINATION! All we would have to do is purchase several cards, take them with us wherever we go and have the people we come in contact with simply sign it as a way of letting Victoria know we are all praying for her.
4. Now, here's the challenging part. I want us to do this within the next 2 weeks AND I want Victoria to receive 5000 cards and letters during this time!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is only 100 cards from EACH state! I want the mailman to drop off bags of letters to 1205 Red Bud Circle.
5. Emails don't count - only snail mail!!! (I know, you might have to buy some stamps!!!!)
6. Homemade cards are great too! Anything that can be sent via the US postal service.
7. EVERY card MUST include the city and state from which it was sent. ( And if possible, a little bit about the people from whom the card was sent!)
8. As a teacher, I must give you a due date: All cards and letters must be sent by September 27, 2007 to be included in this project.
9. You can mail your cards and letters to:
Victoria Enmon
1205 Red Bud Circle
Orange, TX 77632
10. Let's have fun with this! Get out there and send some mail!
Wouldn't it be awesome to exceed 5000 letters from ALL over the world!!! We can do it! Help me bring something fun and different into the life of this precious little lady! I want this to be something you pass along to your friends and family across the nation, encouraging them to pray for Victoria. Enlist people of ALL ages - from the youngest to the oldest - everyone can get involved!!! Think about where you go (dance, football practice, church, school, work, birthday parties, etc.) and use your imagination to get people involved. Buy some cards and send them with your children to their events and make this a family assignment! Have fun most of all!!!Remember: A nation that prays together ,stays together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
